To understand my story I guess you need to understand pattern making… I’ll make that very brief here with a quick quote from wikipedia, “a pattern is a replica of the object to be cast, used to prepare the cavity into which molten material will be poured during the casting process.”
Back in 19__ my grandfather (this is a good story, I promise!) started working at Hub Pattern, in Salem, VA. He was a _____ As time passed he decided to do it on his own… In 19__ My dad decided pattern making was his path, along with his brother, not long after that. Fast forward to 198_ when The Pattern Shop was at the end of our driveway in a small garage.
Wikipedia goes on to say that it “often incorporates elements of fine woodworking.” The patterns my family was making were wood (mahogany) and mounted to aluminum plates before being sent off to the foundry.
